CAREER SUMMARY: My career in Internet development started in 1994 as a part-time consultant. I began designing small to medium Web sites part-time. During my two years as an independent consultant I developed a solid base of customers and designed over 30 Web sites for small to medium companies. In 1996 I was hired on by MCI as a member of the "Goldfinger" team, a group of 22 specialists created to support the new MCI ONE Internet product. Shortly after I was moved to a development group during which time I created the Support Email registration system for MCI Internet that was still in use at the time I left MCI to pursue another opportunity. In November of 1996 I began as a Web Design Specialist at Harbinger Corporation. Six months later I was promoted to Web Systems Specialist. In this position I participated in the development of over 15 industrial strength commerce enabled Internet applications for clients such as GM, Ford, Chrysler, US Department of Defense, US Army Tank Command, The Unilink Group, Worldtravel Partners, and many others. In December of 1998 I was hired on as an Information Architect at WebMD Incorporated, shortly after I received a very lucrative offer to return to Harbinger as the Lead Technologist for harbinger.net. Shortly after my return I was promoted to Senior Development Manager for the E-Marketplace Solutions Division in which position I managed 21 software engineers and the development of dozens of key B2B initiatives and projects for clients such as the Department of the Interior (US), Action.com (UK), and Deutshe Telecom (DE). I also designed and implemented software (GenPortal) for the Harbinger B2B back-end system (get2connect.net). In 2001 I joined nuBridges as a founding partner and Director of Development.
I also serve as the current chairman for a regional non-profit 501(3)(c) conservation organization, North Georgia Trout Online. I founded NGTO in 1996 and it has grown to over 4000 supporting members and over 40,000 registered members. (www.georgia-outdoors.com)

SKILL SUMMARY:

Technical: My strongest technical strengths include such areas as PHP, Perl, C, Javascript, DHTML, XML, XSL, SQL and stored-procedures, Java, ColdFusion and Web server/system administration. As a primary engineer and/or manager I have designed, created, and deployed many enterprise level Web applications on Win32, Linux, and UNIX platforms. I have experience on Sybase, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and mySQL database platforms. This includes determining project requirements, architecture, functional specifications, resource management (including offshore experience), operations, and deployment planning. I have created and or assisted in the development and testing of over 50+ static Web sites and numerous production-level Web applications. (See URL's below) Through the projects I have been involved in I have very detailed and specific experience in the creation of applications such as Web based EDI/E-Commerce, document translation and transformation, EDI/XML mapping, catalogs, directories, business management, collaboration, and event-driven systems. I also have experience with connecting and configuring external devices such as cameras (my remote river camera) to the Internet.

Non-technical: Almost anyone can learn to build Web applications, but it takes experience in Architecture, Project Management, Development, Graphic Design, and Usability to see the process from start to finish. As someone who progressed from designer to application developer without a client-server background I have been able to always maintain the mindset of the user, considering visual appeal and usability, while still writing solid code. This ability is a rarity in my field. I also have a solid customer service background, know the value of a good customer, and know how to keep them happy. I also have very recent experience working with and managing offshore resources and offshore best practices. I have worked with several offshore development shops (Nagarro in Gurgaon India and Kamoto in Ekaterinburg Russia).

My hobby is fly fishing and the outdoors and I have been published in many related periodicals, several books, and write frequently for the Atlanta Journal and Constitution. On November 15, 1998 I was featured in a front page article in the sports section of the Atlanta Journal and Constitution for my work on georgia-outdoors.com, a non-profit 501(3)(c) corporation that I founded and currently serve as Chief Technical Officer and Chairman.

MY DREAM JOB:

Virtual Communities are my interest, practice, and passion. I have been studying, researching, writing software for, and managing virtual communtities since the World Wide Web was the "World Wide What?". I know how to make them successful and profitable. My dream job would be to be charged with the strategy and implementation of an online sales or support community for a progressive company seeking to expand in this area. I built my first virtual community in 1995 and it is still running today; 40,000+ members strong. Since then I have implemented at least five enterprise level communities for organizations such as CommerceNet Southeast, HVAC Online, harbinger.net, and get2connect.net. I know the technology and the trends and would gladly welcome any opportunity to obtain a position in this field.
