I have a buddy that does fish mounts and the run around $12.00 an inch or better, but he has several first place ranks in national shows. I am from Michigan and I have not seen those kind of prices in years.
> So...you get your better run of steelies in the late fall and late spring? In Michigan our better run comes in in the early spring and hangs around untill late spring and then we get the summer run steeies call...Screamanias. Are there any summer run steelhead in your area? And how about salmon are there any in your area? Also if you would please...ship some of those tasty walleye's down here...Man I miss them.
There are some early spring steelie runs...
I haven't fish in northern Wisconsin lately..
about 1 1/2...I have a two year old and she
takes up a lot of my time..When I did go regular-
ly I went to Oconto Falls and Oconto...Oconto is
best when there is first ice out at the pier there. Later is better in Oconto falls...Below
the Michikaunee Flowage..I have hammered them there quite a few times...Talking about being
rude...When you get a big fish on there on the
weekend you can hardly ever get it to shore..Every
one is jealous and they won't reel in...It took
one time till I didn't go on the weekends again.
The steelie I put on the wall was a different
type then the kind you talk about...They are
usually longer and skinnier..Scemanias..I'm not
too sure how to spell it..I my uncle lives in
Oconto Falls...He had me going once and told me that he had caught a 23 inch Brookie...After I
told him that it would probably we a record for
Wisconsin he fessed up...A trout called a Slake..
I looked at it and it looked like a huge brookie
as big as a football..I could talk about fishing
forever...The guys at work have counted how many
times during the day I find a new victim to tell
fishing stories..Walleye is not favorite fishing.
They don't fight much...even the one I have on the
wall...couldn't hold a candle to a small steelhead. I like steelie then small stream brownies..The guys up in Oconto Falls use flies
quite a bit..I see them hauling in some whoppers..
It is really beautiful in northern Wisconsin also.
I am from southern Wisconsin..There are a lot
brownies around here..Some Rainbow but not many..
The brookies here are small and all stockers.
