Hey guys - floated the Taccoa River from the dam at Blue Ridge lake to the railroad tressle Saturday. What a beautiful stretch of river. I didn't have a clue we had this kind of fishing resource in Georgia. Caught 9 or 10 rainbows in the 10" to 14" range. In 5 hours of floating, the only sign of human activity I saw after we left the dam was one dock. Everything else was God's handywork. All private property but narry a house for miles. This must be what the Hootch looked like before Atlanta got out of control. I would give anything to help preserve a stretch of river like this, but the way north Ga is growing I know it's just a matter of time until development engulfs it. Think I'll float it a few more times so I'll have some good stories to tell my grandchildren someday.
Flyguy - thanks for the advice. Floated with a guide named Gary (can't remember his last name - but a prince of a fellow) and had a ball. DRI lived up to it's reputation too. I owe you.
