I suggest an airweight .38 special, stainless cylinder, shrouded hammer. Weighs only ounces, and it won't rust.

Glock makes a superior firearm, totally reliable and used by lots (!!) of law enforcement agencies here in GA, including the GSP. But it weighs a ton and you don't want that on a fishing trip. Don't need all those rounds unless you're deep into fantasy, and certainly don't need a lot of "stopping power" for snakes, etc.

For the 5-shot Smith, about $350 or so at Buckmasters. Load a couple of cylinders with snakeshot and you're in business.
