A lot of those were imported in the late forties through the sixties, when Tonkin cane couldn't be imported to the US because of the difficulties with China. My first flyrod was a Japanese import. Lots of times they came in wooden boxes, with flies and line and the whole set. There's little collector value in these rods; I recently saw some rods (not the set) at a fleamarket for $60 each (unfished) and he hadn't sold any of them. He said he'd bought up the inventory of an old country store. They're good bream rods, might be OK for trout. Mostly they were 9' rods for a 6wt line.
