Skunked at D-ick's Creek

I apologize for intruding on the various vendettas that have lately dominated the board, but I have a real problem: I'm feeling discouraged after this past Wednesday's trip to D-ick's Creek. I fished from the green house to the swimmers below the falls, then around them and up as far as the fallen trees would allow me to walk along the creek. Although I saw about a dozen really pretty trout in each of two pools I couldn't get a nibble from anything bigger than a one inch minnow. I tried elk hair caddis, zug bug, prince, GRHE, a woolly, ant. I fished the nymphs down and the dries up. The only clues I have are that other people had been fishing before I got there (piles of corn on the rocks) and the fish knew I was standing there, although they didn't seem frightened. So, what should I think: 1. I am new at this and should just keep at it; 2. Others had already burned the water for the day; 3. Fish won't bite when they see me in the water with them; 4. it was just one of those days?
