There is a trail on the left side of the river (looking down stream) from the dam parking lot to the tail end of Bowman's Island-and a bit further. I usually walk in from the hatchery and fish the island and float down to the stairs at the hatchery. It WAS good, but the rain washed out the trail, so it had been closed to foot travel. Still, you can put in at the dam-fish there and float to the tail end of the island for a good trip. It's a pretty good section, you just have to watch out for Chris Scally and his clients *grin* down there.

PS: The browns up there are some of the prettiest on the river....GRHE and Caddis larve work very well, as do sz 10 black wooly buggers fished in the runs under strike indicators. Just a thought.......

Regards,
James
