I would have ripped this guy a new one had he not
looked like he has out on parole. I usually yell
out to the fool as soon as I'm sure they're headed
for my spot, something like "Hey buddy I've got a
big fish working here do you mind keeping a distance
, thanks a lot". This usually works and the key is
the "hey buddy" and to thank them before they have
time to negotiate with you about who owns the stream
or that there's enough fish in the hole for everybody,
etc. but that only helps when you see them coming
ahead of time. And even so some folks' idea of
keeping a good distance is that they're not close
enough to spit on you. I have little doubt that
this particular bumpkin thought he was giving
plenty of room, when in fact I could have jerked
the dip out of his jaw with a half hearted roll
cast.

That's the problem -- some don't recognize that a
trophy trout stream is the slightest bit different
than a boat ramp. That's where I'd really like to
see the folks at Smithgall Woods help out by
reminding each person each time they register
to give their fellow fishermen 100 feet, and
violation of this rule will get them booted.
