Use a 24" piece of braided nylon rope. Unwind the braid until you get down to the smallest divisible section. Take this piece, fold it twice and tuck it through #6 swival or a snap ring. The braid should be about 3" in length now.
Wrap the braid behind the swival with red thread, and wrap on about 10 strands of crystal flash. Next, add one black marabou feather on the top for a back.
The gar fly can only be used to catch one fish. It gets so tangled up in their teeth, it has to be cut
out, before the fish is released.
Just get the fly in front of their face and strip it to get a chase. stop the fly and let them bite. There is no "hook set", just get your line back on the reel and have fun.
