Hooch Strategies

Having discovered the convenience of fishing the Hooch at Jones Bridge (5 mins. from my house) versus the mountain streams (1 1/2 hours), I would appreciate any advice on wading there. I have been a couple of times now & have caught one 12 incher each time. Both of which I caught on bead heads almost directly downstream in the 2-3 foot shoals. I see quite a few guys fishing the deeper water between the shoals. Would I have better luck there or is it the way I'm fishing the shoals that's holding me back? I have been fishing Woolly Boogers & Prince bead heads across & downstream in the shoals.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions from a pure Catch & Releaser!
