I use a 7.6 foot leader for small streams and a
9 footer for rivers. 5x tippet in clear water and up to 3x when the water has some stain. 7x tippet for really small patterns (size 18 or smaller). Normally buy Orvis or Climax knotless leaders.

The best GRHE pattern I've found is the Orvis
LePage Bead Head, It produces with mountain
brookies to Hiwassee bows,

> Will y'all help me out? I have been reading up on the messazges about trout and the flies to use and have seen something called GRHE several times. What exactly is this? I am new to the sport, so I don't know all the terms associated with each. Is this some sort of a nymph?
> What is the length of leader recommended for fishing? Does this vary from nymph to dry fly to wet fly? I have been using a short leader with about 3 feet of 4x tippet.
