Good luck on your new foray into flyfishing. Just don't expect miracles, and try not to get frustrated with getting hung up in bushes, etc. Remember, a spinner is much easier to use, so no one chooses to flyfish because it's easier. Remember also, if you can't catch it on a spinning rod, you probably can't catch it on a flyrod. Which means, you CAN catch it on either; it's just a matter of tactics.

Trout in the size you described love minnows and crawfish. And big browns love to feed at night. That's how they god to be big browns.
