Mark, to roll cast you must get your rod tip and the part of your flyline that hangs, down behind you (rod tip at approx 2:00) This is the one time in flycasting you will use a lot of power. Think of having a meat cleaver in your hand and your hand beside your ear, picture a board out in front of you at elbow height you want to stick the end of the meat cleaver(not the edge) into the board if you have done it correctly the line will roll out in front of you in an egg shaped loop and straighten out all the way to the end. To make the line travel to the left of where its at bring the rod over your right shoulder to make the line go to the right bring the rod over your left shoulder give it a try its not nearly as complicated as this sounds.
