Mark, i learned the principle of the rollcast by washing my car.
have you ever been on one side of the car and caught the hose under one wheel?
I have, and I found myself trying to throw a loop in the hose towards the wheel in order to get the
hose free so I could pull some more of it towards me. This is the basic principle of a rollcast.
You are trying to throw a loop down the line so it flips your fly over.
I start with some line out, gently pull my rod sideways with the tip low and then flip my wrist over
so a loop rolls down the line. You have to do it on water because the line needs to move towards you in the water.
hard to practice a rollcast on dry land ...unless you use a hose pipe!
