Overline for small stream rod?

I just realized I cast a 5wt wf line on my 7'6" 4wt Scott. I remember test casting with a 4wt and 5wt lines and found the 5wt loaded the rod faster and made short casts easier. The 4wt was easier to cast longer distance but I planned on using this rod for small creeks only.
Anyways, has anyone else over or under lined their rod? If so, for what reason?
Also, is a double taper line easier to roll cast? I'm looking at this Orvis line (not their rod) double taper gray for spooky fish.
