What happen to you is typical.Any good graphite
rod will easily handle a line heavier than the rating
and two wgts ligther.I once picked up a 7 wgt.by
mistake and when I got to the Hiwassee I noticed
that all I had was a 5 wgt line. The rod handled it
great. If you want to make quick short cast go a size
heavier,for longer cast use a lighter weight--that
is a general rule. Not Mine.DT do role cast longer
cast but remember if you are not going beyound 30ft
then a WF will do just fine since the 1st 30 feet of
at DT and a WF are essentially the same. Finally,if
cost is not a problem you might try a Wulff triangle
taper great for distance and for roll casting.they
come listed as 2 weights that is 4/5 6/7 and so on.
