I too do a lot of double hauling--it works
wounders on getting a tight loop take even
on trout streams can allow you put that fly
in tight spots.I also double haul on roll casts
where getting a tight loop is inportant. You are
right it is hard to put in words.I would simply
say that it is not neccessary to haul the line
down to the hip(as many books state)but simply
make a quick trust forward and to the side with
your line hand as you make the forward casts.By
the way I have had far more success teaching
women to double haul in my flycasting classes.
the best instruction I have seen lately is
the instruction by Lefty Kreh in most of his
books and his VCR tape on flycasting. Most people
probably never need the double haul but I find it
it to be crucial in bass and saltwater flyfishing.
