I would try thr Jones Bridge area...it is south of Alpha. but a great area right now and easy to wade. As far as flies go...the black beasd head wooly bugger is very popular and the Elk Hair Caddis is a good dry in this area. The wooly size will be a #10 or #12 and the Caddis a #14 to #18. You can also try a prince nymph, Bead Head Hairs Ear, Pheasent Tail, or any other common nymphs. You have to be aware of the generating schedule on the Hooch as it will rise and get very fast.

Are the S. CA steelhead as brutal as the ones in MI. I have fished for steelhead in MI for several years and the are one awsome fighting fish!! Would love to here how they size up to the fish from the next to nothing swim suit state. Have not been but would love to see the beaches there.
