Set your strike indicator aprox. one and a half times as deep as the water you are fishing. Yot want the nymph to float along bumping the bottom. Watch for the slightest hesitation or odd movement of the indicator and set your hook. trout will not hold a nymph long so you must be quick. It wont take too long and you will be able to tell the difference between a strike and the nymph just hitting rocks.
Good Luck,

> I have been flyfishing for about a 2 months now. I have caught all of my fish on dry flies. I tried nymph fishing for the first time this last weekend. I felt like I was fishing blind. I tried using a strike indicator, this did not seem to help. Seemed to make casting a bit more difficult!! How far up from the fly do you put the indicator? Is it best to use some type of indicator? I have read alot of post that suggest using a dry fly as an indicator?
