Hooker: trolling motor size

Hooker,
I mis-spoke yesterday. My trolling motor is a 52# thrust, 12 volts, not 60# as I said. The only problem I have is tripping the 40 amp breaker when I run it at high speed for more than a few minutes.

After consulting with my bass fishing friends who have big boats, I will rewire my boat, putting the positive and negative wire in separate conduits. I now have them in the same conduit. The problem may arise that the high current could melt the insulation bonding postive to negative.

This year is the shake out period to get all of the bugs out of the boat and get it tuned up as best as possible.
