The bmp you sent was great, thanks; although, I don't tie the hackles as long as you depicted. Depending on what has been hatching, a bushier and shorter hackle takes more fish. When there are BWO's out for instance. In shallow swift water without a bead and gen. with a bead head in deeper runs.
On the 'hooch, early summer, larger mayflies come off sparsely and soft hackles tied with longer but less bushy hackles works. I use lighter colors in the spring and go darker through the season. I'm thinking of going light again through the brown spawn but may stick to streamers and go for the big'uns.
Let's fish Island Ford together soon.
