Sak-Wi Outfitters & Guide Service managed a fly-fishing trip for the Western Fly-Fishing Association, a FFF club from Los Angeles, Sept. 16-20, 1998; the group fished The Tallulah, The Soque, The Chattooga & The Chattahoochee Rivers, with the water low & relatively warm; notwithstanding depressed conditions, we caught good size rainbows & a few browns on The Soque & The Chattahoochee, mainly on nymphs, golden parachutes, terrestials, stoneflies; trout ranged in size from 8-10" browns & rainbows to a few in the 18-22" size, with the largest caught at Brigadoon measuring 24"; stretch managed by Unicoi Outfitters at Nacoochee Bend was excellent with a few trophies caught & released, notwithstanding poor conditions; great credit & appreciation for the success of this trip goes out to John Cross & Jimmy Harris at Unicoi, who both assisted with fly selection & as river guides; this expedition came from at auction in California sponsored by the Western Fly-Fisherman's Association; the group included Barry Freeman, Don Naftulin & Dave Kassoy, past president of the club who has a lodge on The Gallatin in Montana; this group has fly-fished most of the great venues in North America & credits Sak-Wi, Unicoi & Brigadoon for having picturesque & well-managed trout streams. In the past few years, Sak-Wi has managed expeditions for Gray's Sporting Journal, Remington & Reeltree, and we have conducted trips to Colorado & Europe. We recently fished The Roaring Fork, Castle & Maroon Creeks in Colorado; the excursion we did to Ireland included Ashleigh Falls & The Delphi in Connemara and the Sheen Falls area near Kenmare; we have also explored fly-fishing in the Swiss & French Alps, including a chance to co-op expeditions with Planet Fly-Fishing in Paris.
