: : planning trip to soque this coming weekend. Any suggestions on flies to use , besides purina trout chow nymph, or its alias the brown woolly bugger??
: Small nymphs have been working well lately. Bead head cadddis larvae, bead head mayflies, pheasant tails, etc. sizes 14-18. I plan on fishing there this weekend myself.
Well, we fished friday and saturday. the weather was wonderful. There were five of us. One fisherman caught a 23" rainbow on a #12 muddler. One caught a 19" rainbow and a 16" brown on something called a yuk bug. One fisherman caught two 19" rainbows on a plastic worm. I got on to two big ones but one broke my 6X tippet, the other broke off the very old rusted hook of my favorite grasshopper #10-12. Had some hits on large woolly buggers. All in all a good trip, with the guys I took leaving with silly smirks on their faces.
