The Pileated Woodpeckers were out and about in the trees and
the rainbows were hungry for a flashing lure in the Chatooga this past weekend
(October 12/13). I fished it from Hwy 28 about 3 miles north upriver.
My friend fished it with an elk hair, black ant, and a
few other experimental things and caught a small 'bow. I
fished with a Fox Vibrax gold spinner/brown trout lure.
It's got a great action and I caught four nice healthy
rainbows (stockers), the biggest about 12 inches. A fair
amount of pressure, but not many people were catching
anything. Any day now those browns will start moving...
