Some will think it's crazy but I've had some great! days on the
Hooch just above the US41 bridge but below the I75 bridge(Paces
Ferry)Park in lot, walk down boat ramp, wade across to behind island,
to far bank, see log against bank slightly downstream-PUT #8 montana
at head of log and allow to drift down.NOW look upstream(still behind
island)see the deep hole with shelf rock lay montana up in swift
current and allow montana to ride deep!!along shelf.I have caught
some really nice Browns doing exactly what I've just described.
Now come back to river side of island and wade up towards I75 with
tube(if water comes up get heck out-you might wind up in West Point
lake)Watch for BWO hatch right against right bank as you get closer
to head of rapids.NO LUCK OK turn around in tube put on 14-16 weighted
GRHE(can use tiny split shot)and staying close island fish GRHE
downstream,BUT be sure to draw it to the surface before you cast
again.I would also try a giant black stonefly in this stretch.Good
Luck I'Ve sure had there over the years.GRW.
