: Some will think it's crazy but I've had some great! days on the
: Hooch just above the US41 bridge but below the I75 bridge(Paces
: Ferry)Park in lot, walk down boat ramp, wade across to behind island,
: to far bank, see log against bank slightly downstream-PUT #8 montana
: at head of log and allow to drift down.NOW look upstream(still behind
: island)see the deep hole with shelf rock lay montana up in swift
: current and allow montana to ride deep!!along shelf.I have caught
: some really nice Browns doing exactly what I've just described.
: Now come back to river side of island and wade up towards I75 with
: tube(if water comes up get heck out-you might wind up in West Point
: lake)Watch for BWO hatch right against right bank as you get closer
: to head of rapids.NO LUCK OK turn around in tube put on 14-16 weighted
: GRHE(can use tiny split shot)and staying close island fish GRHE
: downstream,BUT be sure to draw it to the surface before you cast
: again.I would also try a giant black stonefly in this stretch.Good
: Luck I'Ve sure had there over the years.GRW.

The above is for tubing and wading and ff the Hooch in late Dec.& Jan.
Also when drifting the GRHE get it deep I use a slack line cast(kill
your forward cast)or I simply turn in tube and make upstream cast and
allow GRHE nymph to get deep--in any case allow nymph to drag a tad on
surface before making another cast.Sorry if I wasn't clear.GRW.
