: It is almost certain that the river in question is the Soque. I have been fishing for several years there in the extremely limited public access area that amounts to about fifty feet on either side of the bridges over the river. The rest of the land that borders the river is owned by either rich doctors and bankers from Atlanta or crazy rednecks that have been there forever. In any case this beautiful pristine river is pretty much off limits to the tax-paying, trout-stamp-buying public who fund it's stocking. You can't even float down the river in a canoe as the aforementioned rednecks will (in violation of the law) force you at gunpoint off the river. Do you get the feeling I'm upset by this? Anyhow, that's your mystery river. The real mystery is why we continue to pay good tax money to create a fishing paradise for the elite and the in-bred.
Yes, it once burned me up to think about public money going there but then a neighbor pointed out that it gives the Bubba Buttcracks of the world something to do besides makin whiskey and botherin the good folks.
