Mountaintown Creek will always hold a special place
in my heart. I'm not sure why, it is a mediocre stream
at best but there is something about it that keeps
me returning again and again. There are two larger
sections of the creek and one small lower one. The
first to mention is the portion in the Cohutta WMA
above hill lake. This area is hike-in rough territory.
The stream is very narrow in this stretch and all
the fish will be stream-bred. This is perhaps the
most challenging section of the stream.
The next section is located downstream of hill lake
and is open to all types of fishing. This area rec.
regular plantings of rainbow trout and is usually
very crowded on any given weekend. Access is easy.
The last section worth mentioning would be below the
52 bridge. This section is open year round and is perhaps
only a half-mile stretch at best.
Hope this helps!
