: First, I would like to thank those that offered advice and information in response to my post week before last. Just spent an enjoyable week along the upper chattahoochee river north of Helen. We arived monday night and spent 5 nights in the upper campground off of F.R. 44. This is a great place during the week (we were the only ones there for 3 nights, but should be avoided at all costs on weekends. Hiking below the upper bridge produced two days of limits mainly on #10 woolly booger and black ant flies. The large fish was 13" while the majority were 9-10 inches. They stocked on Wed so the worm dunkers picked up conciderably. We saw no one below the upper bridge after 1/2 mile as the trail is poor. Also fished upper Low Gap on Thursday which produced 5 fish the largest being 12". Dodd Creek produced 4 nice fish all about 11" using a Joe's fly Black Gnat 1/32 oz spinner on a 4' sinking leader in the deep pools, What a great Creek! Henson Creek produced only one fish on Saturday about 7" but proved to be a great hike. Thanks again for the imput, am looking forward to returning on Labor Day.
Good for you.I have always believed that the Hooch above Low Gap Ck.to be vastly
underated.By the way one of the largest trout I've ever seen was
in the first deep pool below junction of Low Gap Ck.
