After reading the other responses, I'd have to say that
I could concur with most of them. But the fact is, I don't
think it is always the same for me. I do love the outdoors
and the incredible natural sights. I have really seen some
trivial but interesting things. Probably not even worth
going into here but obviously significant to me.
I will mention the minnow I saw recently swimming away with on
of my artificial baits I had been drifting down till a missed
hit ripped it from the hook, the minnow seemed rather proud
of the prize till the stocker trout began to follow after the
little worm... the minnow dropped its prize and laid low.
Trivial but interesting to me. I could go on with a million
stupid observations. Sometimes it is the challenge to return
to a stream and successfully catch the little fish that
elluded me... again, and again and...
It does somehow take the mind off of troubles, even though
you are near the end of the day and a 'skunk' is likely.
Trying everything in your vest, praying(for a fish!). But
it is a spiritual experience... somehow.
Why wouldn't I fish? How can I stop? What is the addiction?
These may be more appropriate questions. That about does it.
