One of my favorites is the first time fishing on the Yellowstone River below
Livingston to Sheep Mt. We were floating all day taking plenty of little bows
and browns on hoppers, trudes, bitch creeks etc....
Well we stopped for lunch on the little island and after having a great lunch my friends
and I were going to finish the float.
Well on the other side of the island was this little braid, and i informed my friend i
was just going to check it out. It couldnt have been wider then 5-6 ft with about a 1 1/2 ft
of water in it.
Took my hopper and chucked it under the willows, and this huge shadow
just slowly came out from underneath the bank. As everyone knows this is the
the moment when one starts shaking, getting nervous etc... cuz you cannot just handle
watching this "log" come up and take your fly.
Well needless to say the 22 inch brown sipped in the grasshopper without a care in the
world and as soon as the hook was set, took off like a rocket down this little braid of water,.
One of the prettiest and toughext fighting browns that i ever caught in Montana
