All this talk about corn and now favorite fishing
memories has reminded me of an outing I had with
a friend of mine several years ago.
A few years back I worked with guy who had never
been fishing so I invited him to join me. Being
that he was new to the sport I figured I would
let him start out by trying his hand at bait-casting.
I told him to go out and get himself a rod and reel,
some line, weights, and some corn. (I was
planning on taking him out in my old canoe)
I had him meet me at the river the next morning.
The next day I arrived at the river early, saw
some fish rising and decided to make a few casts
with a dry from the shore while I was waiting.
A couple minutes later I hear a loud SPLASH.
I continue my fishing and a few minutes later, another
SPLASH! I look over to my right and there was
my friend who had to arrived early and started
to fish. We greeted each other and I asked him
if he had heard the loud splashing noises. He
replied "That is my bait." - he
began to reel in. As he reeled in his line I
asked him if he had bought some corn as I had
suggested, but before he could answer I looked
down and realized that indeed he had as I saw
the ear of corn coming towards us.
Needless to say I tried my best to
hold in the laughter.
