:Jack, are you talking about property owners
chasing fishermen off their land or out of the
river or what exactly? I respect property rights
& if I accidentally trod upon such ground would
apologize & leave. However if i enter the river at
public access, i THINK i have a right to stay in
it or on it wherever it goes, without trespassing.
Doesn't anyone know exactly what laws apply?
The question of navigability aside, could someone
up there persuade the local district atty to
find out what laws control these situations? Then
fishermen and all law enforcement officers in the
district could be notified exactly what is a
violation and what is not, so we'd all know our
rights instead of guessing and unnecessarily
risking confrontations and bad arrests. Couldn't
Ga fishermen also persuade the state that if the
a river is stocked or otherwise looked after at
public expense, the public must not be excluded?
I want to fish, not fight, but I would contribute
to a legitimate cause to establish public rights.
