Put in at Morgan Falls 7:00 Sunday morning, looking for Stripers.
Caught seven Browns, three Bass, an a Crappie. Drifted
down to Johnson Ferry and caught eight more Browns.
About 11:30, headed back to the dam and caught six
more Browns and two more bass. A serious brown midge
hatch started about 10:30, and lasted until about 1:00.
There wasn't any surface activity, but they were definitly
on the feed during this time. The Browns near the dam
were fat and obviously eating well. The trout down river
were skinny, almost to the point of being emaciated. I caught
one 17" Brown near Johnson Ferry that looked like a snake.
Biggest fish of the day was a 20" Brown that was so fat, it
had shoulders. Most fish were in the 12" to 14" range.
Tried to match the hatch, but there just too many real
ones for me to compete successfully. Caught most fish
on a silver floating Rapala and a Rainbow Trout colored
sinking Rapala. I did catch a few on a white 1/4 oz. jig.
