Dont be to upset with the purists on the river. You probibly had a much better day than they did. I know for a fact that the fish in that area do not spook easy. I nave fished that area several times and had good luck in places that people had just fished or waded through. Of course I have never caught a brown of that size, but my biggest fish this year came from that area this past friday afternoon. I caught a total of 19 fish and thay were about 50/50 browns and rainbows that ranged from 11" to my best catch this year a 17" brown holdover. I myself have no problems with people in boats due to the fact that there are so many fish in the river that a boat should not have any effect on the fishing at all. I think that you ran across a couple of guys that were having a bad fish day and just needed someone to blame there lack of knowledge on.

By the way I caught all my fish on a black woolly bugger ( beadhead ). Most of them came from the tailouts and log areas near shore.

If I were you I would keep on fishing the same way you have been and forget the petty purist that were treading water that day.

Tight lines
