: I am planning a trip to the mountains in SC for a short hike long trout fishing trip. Does anyone have any suggestions on what creek to fish? I was looking at camping on Lake Jocassee and fishing a feeder stream. How is the trout fishing in Jocassee for mid May?

SC has some very under rated trout streams!I fished there alot back when I
was a grad student at Clemson. Some of the best and wildest streams in the
US!are in the area we called the Horsepasteur and the Canebrake. This area
borders NC/SC in the area of lake Jocassee.Sadly much of the water was flooded
by the impounding of Jocassee(where are all the TUers and environmentalist
when you need them). In this area was the Horsepasteur R.,Thompson,Whitewater,
Green,Bear Ck,Laurel fork and less I forget the Toxaway. My recomendation is
get a map of area (USGS).Also every one that loves the N GA mountains should
get a copy of the GA conservancy's guide to the North Georgia Mountains. The
Horsepasteur area is covered in a section called the escarpment gorges.GRW
