You may ask do trout ever get down to L. West Point and the
answer is a qualified yes.A Brown was caught at the shoals
at Franklin(head of lake)The guy who caught it on bait,as
the story goes,took it to a bait store in LaGrange and ask
what the his big "ole brown fish"was.The fisheries people
at Aurburn U.have told me they have picked up dead 12-14"
rainbows near WP dam in the winter.Stripers and Hybrids are
a hoot on the Fly rod.The Hybrid run this spring below WP dam
was special(the crowds were heavy but not unruly).What few
folks know is that the hybrids and stripers are below the
dam all summer and can be caught when all generation units
are running(crowds thin out when they see all that swift
water.)I caught a 17lb striper on a rooster tail last May.
I have caught hybrids on the fly below the dam during generat-
ion but most of time you need hardware and lots of it.
