I have hiked in, and fished Slough Creek in the area of the campground. I fished about 4 hours and landed a 18" cutt and a 20" cutt, both on size #20 black midge patterns. These fish would only rise to my smallest patterns (2nd week of September). The fishind appears to be better upstream at second meadow (2-3 hour hike). The Park Service offers a "buckboard" shuttle service into the valley for a fee (throw yourself and your pack on the wagon and let the mule do the work....Good Luck.
