The public area, as far as I know, Begins at the first bridge after the "dip" heading north on 197 out of Clarkesville, and you can fish upstream of the bridge for maybe a half a mile or less. This part of the river seems to be heavily fished judging by the number of old worm and corn container along the banks. The river is stocked and there are no restrictions on the public part. I fished there on Wed eve and caught one stocked bow about 8 inches. There were at least 6 others fishing, all but one using corn or worms. This might be a good after work destination or sidetrip from another location, but I wouldn't plan a day around fishing here. If you do make the trip, be prepared to find another destination if there is more than 3 or 4 people fishing upstream. Wildcat creek is just up the road and offers more stream to fish along with regular stockings.
