: Any suggestions on a good place to buy dry flies in greater Atlanta or by the Hooch (Buford Dam). I've heard a lot about the Dorato and would love to get my hands on some. Unfortunely, I haven't taken up tying my own yet. Any reply's are greatly appreciated.
The northern most (with proximity to Buford Dam) fly bearing shops are:
Hammonds Fishing Center. 1 mile off exit 17 on GA 400.
Bass Warehouse. 1-85 north in Duluth.
Atlanta Flyfishing Outfitters. In Dunwoody, off Mt. Vernon Rd.
Hammonds is a good choice if you live on the north end. Keith Westbrook, the owner keeps a good selection of the basic flies needed for the Hootch. He's also an avid fly-fisherman, and is really trying to ramp up the fly-sishing end of his business.
Bass Warehouse is usually out of the basic stuff.
Atlanta Flyfishing Outfitters, is going to be the best bet for finding non-standard flies (e.g. Dorado, Henryville Special, etc.)
There are others inside the perimeter.
