I could kick myself, I was on my way to the Dam on
Sunday and decided to keep on going all the way
up to Helen to fish the WMA - I did terrible.

:
: : Had to fish behind Buford Dam today because all the water down river was
: : thick with mud. The hatchery must have had a recent release because stockers
: : were everywhere. I saw several pods of at least 30 fish and one run that
: : must have had 50+ in it. Since they were all starving to death, they were
: : hitting just about everything. I caught them on Rapalas, spinners, jigs,
: : a black ant, a muddler minnow, and a woolly bugger. One particular place that
: : was excellent and didn't have a lot of pressure was the left side of the big
: : island. The pool that held the 50+ trout was at the upstream end of the island
: : just before the main channel goes under that big tree on the right.
: : All the pools down the left side of the island seem to be holding trout. I spooked
: : a lot, but caught a lot to.

: : Hooker

: I was out on the river at Bowman's island ( Is that right at the hatchery?) and got skunked, of course that's not very hard to do since I am new to the sport

: The water was crystal clear and the trout were no where to be seen.

: There were several other anglers out there also and they only had little success but it looked to me as though they may have been stockers also.
