: Greetings,

: I have not fished Buford Dam in a long time. I visited the Dam a few weeks back, as I now live nearby. I saw several trout taken on Salmon eggs on the "Dam side" of the River near the wooden walkway. How does the water rise affect fishing there. Every time I want to go, it seems like they are generating, so I call my trip off. Suggestions ?????

Matt,
I don't fish the Buford Dam area very much either,
but I'm sure it would take one heck of a fish to hang
in the discharge area during generation. In fact this
is probably one of the reasons that the only big trout
in this area are the breeders that are occasionaly
released by the hatchery. The other trout have to
expend so much energy during generation that what
little food they do find near the dam is used for
energy instead of growth.

The water release schedule at Buford Dam can be found
by calling 770-945-1466.
