Hooker, the Hiwassee above Reliance,Tn offers some great fishing. It is clear about 150 yards wide
at Big Bend and the Stairsteps. And at Big Bend it can still be waded when generators are going,if
you know where to get in(just E mail and I'll tell you where.).I have fished since the early 80's
from the power house to US 411.We usually camped at Gee Creek (Cross bridge on 411 then look for sign)
Quinn Springs is also good(On TN32 toward Reliance). We even stay at Gee CK.when we go to Smokey's.The
campgrounds are crowded in summer--rafters,canoers and such. But at Big Bend they mostly go down far side
so they really don't bother you much.A out of state lic.will cost 51.00, that's right, and I dont know
about 3,7 day.I always bought the season because that river is just so damn beautiful. In the spring
when they dont generate so much, the fishing at Gee Ck campground at the indian fish-trap can be outstand-
ing for browns, bows and smallmouth can be outstanding. And at the time the dogwoods are blooming in in the
campground--the caddis hatches at gee creek section of the river will resemble a blizzard. We use to go up
alot between Oct--April and there were alot a times we had campground to our selves for days. Please anybody
that needs more imfo just email me.If you haven't been on the Hiwassee near Reliance,Tn.You are missing out
on a beautiful river that has some really great trout fishing. And yes there are stripers there but no jet
skiers-the browns eat em.GRW
