Thank You to all members of NGTO....I have learned a lot about fly fishing for trout...I hope the knowledge I attained from all of you can give me the upper hand on the small stream brown trout...All of you have your heart in the correct place..Let there be wild trout for my great grandchildren to fish/eat/release and admire...Mostly admire!!!!Spinner...Thanks Aaron..Thanks all of you....TIGHT LINES.......

Hooker....Yes I received those photos...They were awesome!!!!Maybe you should send the photos to Aaron so he could post some..You being the moderator for the warm water area..It would add some clout to your moderating....Any of the largemouth would be taken directly to the taxidermists up here by EVERYONE...The rainbow????How big of a stream are they taken from???Some of the posts on the board talk about the DNR stocking rainbow at 5 pounds...A five pound rainbow up here on a small stream would be at least 10 years old...Your climate must be better for growing them SO BIG like your photos!!!The tributaries of the big lakes grow them a lot bigger up here then the small streams..Most of the streams I fish around here are 5 to 15 feet wide and usually a maximum of 6 feet deep...6 feet is only on a sharp corner..most holes are only 3-4 deep...I guess I am comparing apples..(wisconsin) trout and oranges...georgia) trout...My rig I fish with is 5.5 feet long with a light action with four pound test...Your rainbow would snap my line in a second...Great photos!!Spinner.

Panther Martin..Go to one of your search engines and ask for a free catalog...There is an online catalog also..Normally in the store panthers cost 3 bucks a crack...If you or more then 10....they are only 1.99 each..Quite a savings...They are awesome lures..Let me know if anyone buys or uses them and what kind of success they have..Spinner..

Spinner, a 5 lb. trout in GA is a STOCKER 99% of the time. The Hooch produces some fish in the 10 to 15 lb. range, but these too were once stocked. ( although they can live in the river many yearsafter they are stocked. There are other places where semi-wild fis reach that size, but they are fed pellets once aweek. The only places with large, wild trout are a couple of remote, walk-in streams.Either way though, a 5 lb. trout is a veeeeeeeeeeery NICE ONE, INDEED !!!

Spinner,
That 5lb rainbow came out of the Chattahoochee at Jones Bridge here in Atlanta. The river there is about 100 feet wide with many 5-6 foot holes.
I caught that big rainbow on 4lb test, and I was darn lucky to get the picture. After I hooked it, the fish headed downriver pulling drag, when I noticed I had a tangle on my reel. I pinched the line between my fingers and tried to pull line off down to the tangle to clear it, but the line broke, and I had to chase the rainbow with the boat while I played it by hand without a reel.

I hope you have a great fishing year in 99!

Hooker

PS. I caught a 20lb and an 18lb striper this week, along with several nice bass. I'll send the pics to Aaron, and have them posted.
