View Full Version : Stream Rpts..Chattooga,Mountaintown
Anyone been to either of these 2 lately??
Is the gate still locked on the road leading up to Mountaintown?
Whats water levels been like on the Chattooga????
Any help is appreciated.
FYI: The road is blocked off with sign saying ROAD WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHR NOTICE.
So, if you go, prepare to hike in
from the Bear Creek campground.

jeffg,
I think they may have closed the campground to let the land recover a bit. At least I think I remember reading about that on here last year sometime. Anyone else know anything about this?
Campground didnt appear to be closed at all. In fact spent some time picking up other peoples stuff. I mean there was an emtpy jar of pigs feet and a box of saltines...........
It appeared well used. It is also a $2 fee area now too.

jeffg..we fished Chattooga and Chauga last Saturday. They had stocked on Wed or Thursday I think. Water temp was 46 degrees with ice on the edges and in the still pools. Rob caught a nice 14" rainbow at Burrell's Ford below the bridge. I caught one as well but I ain't telling how big that sucker was. It was the day the storms were so bad (hail, lightening, down pours). Wooley Buggers did the trick. There were only two other vehicles in sight and we never saw the people..amazed me...I have been in all kinds of weather and there are always a load of people but not Saturday. The Chauga, on the other hand was rather crowded. We didn't catch any fish and no one else appeared to either. We left there and went to Earl's Ford did nothing..then went to Burrell's Ford and the fun began. Go get em!

jeffg...I just spent the afternoon on the Chattooga...water temp was 48...air temp...68. Rainbows..12" to 7". Several people. Had a bit of a problem with some people and stream etiquette but I won't go there..grrrr...Perfect afternoon...I just hope these midweek trips don't get me in trouble at work. Get out there! It's great!

No Owl...no worms...canned corn only....and it must be green giant nibblets. 30 people aren't enough, don't you have any more friends than that? Let's pack em in!!
