The "foxee minnow" is actually a Clouser Minnow tied in the color pattern- foxee red. Clousers and Leftys Deceivers are styles of tying rather than color patterns. They can be tied in any size and color desired. The original foxee red-Clouser was tied with a black tipped red fox tail hair upper wing and a white tipped red fox tail hair lower wing plus silver krystal flash. I have seen them sold as "foxees" when tied with red dyed squirrel tail hair top wing and natural white barred gray squirrel tail lower wing + flash. If you are not familiar with tying Clousers, Lefty Kreh and Bob Clouser have a 2 vol video called "The Fly Tying Techniques of Bob Clouser and Lefty Kreh-50 years behind the vise" Vol 1 & Vol 2 @ $25.00 each. They show you how to tie Clousers, Deceivers, Bendbacks, Clousers Crayfish and a hybrid cross between the Deceiver and the Clouser Minnow called a Half & Half plus other patterns. Umpqua Feather Merchants has sold the "foxee" in the past and you might find it in the book-Fly Patterns of Umpqua Feather Merchants" by Randall Kaufmann. The videos are available from Ed Storys-"National Feather Craft Co." fly fishing catalog, PO Box 19904, St. Louis, Mo. 63144.FAX 314-963-0324.They sell the book as well.
