Hey folks,

We need your help! We want to carry the best spinning gear for the price at Unicoi Outfitters & need your advice. We've tried the inexpensive brands as well as the top of the line stuff. Seems like we end up refunding a lot of customers' money with the lower end rods & reels, while the $100-plus reels become a permanent fixture in the store. We would like the advice of some of the serious spin fishermen on this board as to price point, brand, etc. on rods & reels. Since we don't want to take up space on the message board with "commercial" discussions, please e-mail us with your opinions. Send them to:
unicoi@stc.net

Thanks for you help.

Drifter responds:
I have a bunch of spinning reels, but my favorite ultralight is a Quantum Micro MS00 (about $35). For what its worth, it has two ball bearings...very smooth reel.

I know you wanted an email response, but essentially this is a "best reel for the money" thread. There are probably others on the Board that are interested. Anyhow, the Quantum gets my vote.

Jimmy,
My favorite rod is a Falcon Lowrider. There is not another rod on the market that is as light and stiff for the price ($70-$100).
My favorite reels are Shimanos because of the drag system. I use the Sriadic model ($105), but the Spirex ($55) is also good, but it just doesn't last as long.
