Morgan Fall

I was reading "Trout Fishing in North Georgia" and this was described as once being the premiere trout fishing spot in North Georgia. Is there any fishing here?

Could someone direct me as to where I could get some info.

The section of the Hootch below Morgan Falls used to be tremendous. They still stock this section with fingerlings so that grow up semi-wild. Various enviromental factors mostly causing higher water temps has reduced the number of fish. That along with the significant rubber raft "hatch" has seriously comprised this fisherie. If you are looking for challenging fish go for it, if you want a lot of fish, forget it.

A few of us gave Morgan Falls a try about a month ago. The water was too muddy for a fair evaluation. One thing I did notice was a lot of litter in the form of corn cans and worm buckets. This tells me that maybe there are some decent trout still there.

I fished Cochran Shoals, which is below Morgan Fallas, about 4 times late last summer. I caught a few trout, mostly browns. I never saw a raft or tube, but did see the occasional kayak. I really haven't spent enough time to tell you if the fishery is as Jacobs described it in his book, other than to say that there are trout below Morgan Falls. the fact that I only saw one other person fishing there might be a more definitive statement about the fishing than anything else. On the plus side, there are plenty of joggers who offered me free and unsolicited advice.
