Greetins to all, I am a fly fisherman and have learned alot by keeping abreast of the NGTO Message Board and as always learning new things from all who post here. I have just purchased a boat and was interested in any and all information about catching Strippers on Lake Lanier. I know this is a "non" trout issue, but any information would be greatly appreciated..Thanks to all...LB

Probably your best bet for strippers is on either Cheshire Bridge Rd. or Piedmont Rd. in Atlanta. I imagine Lake Lanier is a little nippy for them this time of year since they don't have any clothes on. http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/smile.gif

Seriously, there is a guide who flyfishes for stripers on Lanier but I can't recall his name. I'm sure someone on this board will know though. Congrats on the new boat! You definetly need one to find stripers on Lanier. I have always wanted to try it myself if I only had a boat.

LB....Try and e-mail Chris England....He does alot of flyfishing for them on Lanier. He would also have the name of some other guides that offer this service.

I've found the Downtown is the best place to catch a "stripper" usualy at night athough some can be found during lunch and early evenings. For bait I usually use dead presidents (size 5 works great), never had any luck with flies.

If you want to catch STRIPER fish then check out our web page (good links also)

Booger,

True enough, "strippers" can be had on size 5 Dead Presidents. They even tend to be larger on a 5. However I've found that the "strippers" decrease in size and increase in beauty as you move northward from downtown. But then you have to move up to a size 10 Dead President. Presentation is not that critical as they are readily taken. Make sure you have an ample supply because the "strippers" require a lot of them http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/ubbngto/wink.gif

Sorry! I couldn't resist.
