I started fly fishing around a year ago when I moved here from Ohio. I've become so enthralled with the sport that I have totally neglected my other beloved outdoor activity, Mountain Biking.

Having been up north around Helen, the Nantahala, and some others it would seem that I could combine the two.

Does anyone out there ride into any streams not accessible by vehicle and maybe just a bit too far to hike in?

Any info would be appreciated.

Camping not out of the question either. I've spent many nights under the stars in the service.

Thanks

If you're in the mood on a long weekend, you might want to check out the Virginia Creeper Trail. It's an old narrow gauge railroad bed that has been converted to a 37 mile long bike trail. It runs from Abingdon, Va to somewhere in North Carolina. There's a lot of access for those not wanting to ride the entire trail. It follows a couple of trout streams in the Mt Rogers National Forest, including Whitetop-Laurel, which is single-hook artificials only with a 14" size limit.

The scenery is awesome. The sections of Whitetop-Laurel aren't very crowded. Just watch out for the copperheads. The cost of a out of state trout license bites a little, too.

VA out of state Dec - Jan $30.50 for fishing plus $30.50 for Trout add a couple of bucks if your going into National forest.

What is the deal with the extermly high GA fee for wilderness area?

Sorry, That should be January - December for the VA license.
